The Spirit of Life

coming February 5, 2021!

Born out of a desire to help my church memorize Romans 8:1-11 together one summer, I set the passage to music. I aimed for singable, memorable, bite-size tunes, word-for-word from the ESV translation of the Bible. I thought I had something special, so I waited patiently for the opportunity to record them properly and get them out in the world for others to benefit from them.

Several years later, that opportunity came, and I decided if I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it the right way! I didn’t want to be second-guessing myself at every turn or cutting any corners. I wanted to let my hair down, be myself, and have the most fun possible. I wanted it to be a piece of art that, as the artist, I could be deeply proud of.

So while this project is certainly “useable” in the sense that it will help you memorize a central passage of the Bible, it’s also creative and musical. I poured my heart and soul into it. I hope that comes through. I believe it’s a project that kids will love, adults will genuinely enjoy, and that might just stick around in your music rotation for longer than a summer’s Scripture memory initiative.
